A lot can happen in three years...
Since the release of Katz Company’s debut EP, 2009’s Katz Company Music, the 90s-influenced pop/rock rock group, led by frontman and namesake Alex Katz have seen their fair share of success. From sharing the stage with heavyweights like Cold War Kids, Blind Melon and Keller Williams, to winning the Chicago stop of Chegg’s College Battle of the Bands, it’s been a rollercoaster ride.
In 2010, when Katz was underwent extensive surgery to remove a malformed artery in his brain, he returned just months later with Katz Company Presents: The Surgery Sessions, a fan-funded EP that saw 100% of sales go to Children’s National Medical Center, where his surgeries took place.
Now, Katz Company are back with their most ambitious project to date with Katz Company Presents: Variety Pop, which will feature a free song released every month for four months rather than a traditional EP. Katz and his respective Company recorded the new songs entirely on their own, eschewing the traditional studio and allowing for an unhindered creative process.
With the release of new material and loads of upcoming shows, it looks like Katz Company’s profile is on the rise yet again.
